Texas A&M Communication BA Major
Hi, I'm Kaylen Kruse! I am a Senior Communication major and Sport Management minor at Texas A&M University with a passion for sports media, digital communication, marketing, and community engagement. I graduated from Blinn College in December 2023 with an Associates of Arts degree and finished my college volleyball career.
I love finding creative ways to connect with people and bring energy and positivity to everything I do. Every opportunity is a chance for me to lead with purpose, deliver with excellence, and make a lasting impact. I plan to pursue a career in marketing and communications where I can combine my passion for storytelling with creative marketing strategies. I look forward to gaining more experience and am excited for what's ahead!
My Skills
Through my previous and current internships, I have gained valuable experience and skills that will help me navigate challenges, collaborate effectively, and grow within a dynamic work environment.
Marketing
In my current role as a Tourism Marketing Intern with the City of College Station, I support marketing initiatives through event coordination, strategic communication, content creation, and community engagement, helping promote the city’s brand and connect with both residents and visitors. I am proficient in Canva and Adobe Express.
Photography
I’ve been building my photography skills since high school, with hands-on experience gained as a Photography Intern at TexAgs and in my current role as a Tourism Marketing Intern. I am proficient in Adobe Lightroom.
Social Media
My social media experience includes managing the Blinn Volleyball Instagram and X (Twitter) accounts, creating engaging content as a LeadAbroad Social Media Intern, and currently assisting with Instagram management in my position as a Tourism Marketing Intern, with proficiency in Sprout Social.
Communication
I bring strong communication skills developed through hands-on experience in marketing and sports media roles. I’ve worked across written, verbal, and digital communication, collaborating with teams, engaging audiences through strategic messaging, and creating clear, compelling content for social media, marketing campaigns, and events.
Sports Media & Production
Through my experience at TexAgs as both a Photography Intern and Production Intern, I gained hands-on experience in sports media and live event production. This included capturing game-day photography and b-roll, assisting with the live production of a radio show, and collaborating with media teams to capture and deliver engaging sports content. I am proficient in Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Premiere.
Leadership
I have developed strong leadership skills as a team captain for my college volleyball team, I guided teammates, fostered collaboration, and encouraged peak performance both in practice and during games. My time as a camp counselor at Camp Ozark allowed me to lead activities, mentor campers, and ensure a safe and positive environment. I’ve also honed my leadership through class projects and internships, where I collaborated with teams, coordinated tasks, and helped guide projects to successful outcomes.
